This animation displays the intensity of precipitation as it flows around the globe, showing heavy precipitation in orange/yellow and light precipitation in purple. 3648 Components of the Water Cycle
This animation displays the intensity of precipitation as it flows around the globe, showing heavy precipitation in orange/yellow, medium in blue/green and light precipitation in purple. 3645 Hourly Total Precipitation from the GEOS-5 Model
This animation shows global evaporation with a clock inset showing the day/night cycle. 3644 Hourly Evaporation from the GEOS-5 Model
This animation shows the flows of atmospheric water vapor over Asia. 3643 Hourly Atmospheric Water Vapor from the GEOS-5 Model
Both CloudSat and CALIPSO detect attributes of clouds on slices through the atmosphere. Here both are shown over an image of MODIS reflectance which is mapped onto the terrain. 3436 CloudSat, Calipso and MODIS over Central America

Movie ID Title
This animation shows a flat map version of the southern polar vortex at 550 degrees Kelvin during part of 2004. 3098 Polar Vortex (WMS)
In the case of low solar wind pressure, the sunward side of the ionosphere is thick (the red region) and some of the atmosphere can be seen trailing off behind the planet. 2962 Computer Simulations of the Martian Atmosphere Interacting with the Solar Wind
The first module, Geography, deals briefly with the effect that geography has on global weather patterns and climate. 77 Cycles of the Atmosphere: Modules 1-3
This segment provides an introduction to aerosols- their varied sources, brief lifetimes, and erratic behavior. Glory’s APS will help researchers determine the global distribution of aerosol particles. This unique instrument will unravel the microphysical properties of aerosols, and will shed light on the chemical composition of natural and anthropogenic aerosols and clouds. 10525 Hello Crud
This animation illustrates the effects of increased greenhouse gasses on the atmosphere.
10156 Greenhouse Gases Effect on Global Warming
This animation illustrates how dust particles with ice crystals form mesospheric clouds. 10154 AIM's Cosmic Dust Experiment and Cloud Formation
This is the standard definition version of the Earth's Atmosphere Layers - Fly Through animation MPEG. 10014 Earth's Atmosphere Layers
Traveling Dust Animation - The dust comes every year during northern Africa's dry season, when storm activity in the Sahara Desert and Sahel generate clouds of dust. The dust originating from fine particles in the arid topsoil is transported into the atmosphere by winds and may be carried in excess of 10,000 feet high into the atmosphere by easterly trade winds. Typically, it takes one to two weeks for the dust clouds to cross the Atlantic Ocean and reach the continental United States..
This animation illustrates microbes hitching rides across the Atlantic in the highly irregular nooks and crannies found in the surfaces of dust particles and how they are transported across the Atlantic Ocean. 10008 Microbes Hitch Ride on African Dust
